There are moments in a person's life when nothing can be fixed anymore.
The illness cannot be stopped.
Time cannot be turned back.
But there is still one thing that can be done.
Be there.
The "Ostatnia Warta" Foundation was born from a simple need of the heart:
so that no one has to depart this world alone.
Every day in hospitals, hospices, and homes, someone is living their final hours.
By their side are often exhausted loved ones who have been keeping watch without sleep for days.
Sometimes, there is no one left.
That is when an Ostatnia Warta volunteer appears.
They do not come to heal.
They do not come to change the course of events.
They come to keep watch.
Sometimes this means having a conversation.
Sometimes holding someone's hand.
And sometimes just a quiet presence at the bedside of someone who is passing away.
It is not much.
And yet, it means everything.
Because human dignity does not end in the moment of illness.
It does not end in the moment of weakness.
And it should not end in loneliness.
That is why we keep watch.
Quietly.
Without publicity.
Often in the middle of the night.
Wherever someone's presence is needed most.
If you believe that no one should pass away alone
— stand watch with us.
